The ‘Arc of Five’
I call a special collection of five constellations the Arc of Five. They are aligned in an arc shape in the sky. The first is the Sheepfold which is then followed by the Twins, Good Shepherd, Breaker, and Bride.
We will examine all the constellations in the Arc of Five throughout this series. Each has a story to tell. Their individual stories come together to tell a broader story. If you read Part 1, you know the sign of the Sheepfold witnesses to a gathering place. The other signs in this arc will continue the story. We will see the story of Yahushua leading His people to the gathering place. The story will develop with Yahushua’s arrival at the Sheepfold and leading His people to a special place of protection. Finally, we will see Yahushua’s Bride in the Heavenly realm.
The events listed above will be shown through the prophetic scriptures as well as the witness of the stars.
So, let’s take a look at the second constellation in the Arc of Five—the Twins!
Hebrew Name of Constellation: Tamim (תמים)
Tamim comes from a closely related family of Hebrew words that can translate as any of the following: united, doubled, joined, complete, perfect, undefiled, without blemish, healthful, upright, or a twin.
Pictographic Name of the Constellation: Twins
You may know the constellation by its Latin name Gemini, translating as twins. The Latin name is consistent with the Hebrew name.
The constellation shows two stick figures joined together. They are walking arm in arm and shoulder to shoulder. The right figure has an elongated curved leg; the figure on the left upholds its twin. This indicates that one is lame and in need of assistance to walk.
Yahushua Is Our Healer
This constellation reveals Yahushua! Messiah is an intimate friend to the lame. He not only heals but also patiently walks with those dependent on Him. Yahushua is whole and perfect. He carries no blemish. Because of His perfection, He can transform us. Though we have many weaknesses, the Twins constellation is a picture of being made perfect (tamim) by walking with Him. None of us have been perfected, even those who have walked with Messiah for many years. Transformation in Messiah is a process as we walk with Him on Earth. Someday, our perfection will be made complete.
Special Star in the Constellation: A’pala (אפלא)
The word pala translates as marvelous, wonderful, or surpassing.
This star is located in the head of the figure on the right. Its Hebrew name connotes the miraculous works of YHWH. The word relates to miracles, such as healings.
Gathering the Lame
The Twins are also a sign of an amazing event in the future, the Ingathering, in which YHWH will provide many miracles for His people. YHWH promised to gather His people in the End Days. Below is a short list of verses in which the prophets referred to the people gathering as blind, lame, dumb, outcast, etc. Please read the verses in context and take note that the remnant of YHWH’s people is considered ‘lame.’
Isaiah 35:6 “Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing, because waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.”
Jeremiah 31:8 “See, I am bringing them from the land of the north, and shall gather them from the ends of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, those with child and those in labour, together – a great assembly returning here.”
Micah 4:6-7 “ ‘In that day,’ declares יהוה, ‘I gather the lame, and I bring together the outcast and those whom I have afflicted. And I shall make the lame a remnant, and the outcast a strong nation. And יהוה shall reign over them in Mount Tsiyon, from now on and forever.’ ”
Zephaniah 3:19-20 “ ‘See, I am dealing with all those afflicting you at that time. And I shall save the lame, and gather those who were cast out. And I shall give them for a praise and for a name in all the earth where they were put to shame. At that time I shall bring you in, even at the time I gather you, for I shall give you for a name, and for a praise, among all the peoples of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes,’ said יהוה.”
The Twins are a picture of Yahushua gathering the lame. The figure on the left represents Messiah guiding and supporting the other. Those who respond to the End Days calling to gather can trust that Yahushua will be with and support them every step of the way. He will even make their names a great praise to all the people on Earth, as the Book of Zephaniah proclaims!
The Twins and the Sheepfold
In the sky, the Twins are seen walking in the direction of the Sheepfold! (See image of the Arc of Five)
We know that YHWH did not position the stars and constellations randomly. In chapter two of my book Written in the Heavens, I teach that the sky is divided into three regions: Heavens, Earth, and She’ol. The constellations that are on the Zodiac belt represent events that occur on Earth. Whereas constellations located in the other two regions show us about those realms.
Because the Twins and the Sheepfold are placed together on the Zodiac, we can deduce two things. First, they both represent events on Earth. Second, since they are positioned next to each other, we can begin to look for connections. Given what we know about the two pictures, let us look to the Scriptures to see how they tie together.
A Wilderness Gathering Place
In Hosea chapter two, YHWH promised to gather His people in a wilderness place. The people whom He will gather are referred to in feminine terms. This ‘woman’, whom YHWH will lead to the wilderness place, becomes part of the Bride of Messiah.
Hosea 2:14-15 “Therefore, see, I am alluring her, and shall lead her into the wilderness, and shall speak to her heart, and give to her vineyards from there, and the Valley of Aḵor as a door of expectation. And there she shall respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day when she came up from the land of Mitsrayim.”
In the wilderness place, provision and abounding hope are promised. Just as in the time of the Exodus out of Egypt, the people will respond by leaving their homelands to pursue a walk with Yahushua in the wilderness.
The stars as well as this passage in Hosea show a connection between a wilderness place and Yahushua and His Bride. The picture of the Sheepfold in the stars shows us the wilderness gathering place. The Twins show us Yahushua and His Bride joined together. Messiah will call His people to a wilderness place to make a covenant with them. This covenant is likened to a marriage agreement.
Hosea 2:16 “‘And it shall be, in that day,’ declares יהוה, ‘that you call Me “My Husband,” and no longer call Me “My Ba’al.”’
Hosea 2:19-20 “And I shall take you as a bride unto Me forever, and take you as a bride unto Me in righteousness, and in right-ruling, and loving-commitment and compassion. And I shall take you as a bride unto Me in trustworthiness, and you shall know יהוה.”
The Twins constellation speaks of people walking in an intimate relationship with Yahushua. What is more intimate than a marriage relationship? Marriage imagery is used to describe the relationship between Yahushua and the people who will respond to Him in the wilderness.
A transformation is shown in the Twins. The one who walks with Messiah to the End Days gathering place could represent a lame person. However, another way to look at the elongated leg is a bridal train. Personally, when I look at the Twins, I see both. I see my need to walk closely and dependently with Yahushua. I also see that He is transforming me to become whole and complete in Him. The bridal train is a sign that the Bride has made herself ready by walking with Yahushua in righteousness, evident in that she is wearing a wedding gown.
Revelation 19:7-8 “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him praise, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife prepared herself. And to her it was given to be dressed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteousnesses of the set-apart ones.”
Leaning on Her Beloved
Song of Songs 8:5 “Who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? Under the apple tree I awakened you. There your mother was in labour with you; there she was in labour, gave birth to you.”
Song of Songs makes another connection between Yahushua and His Bride in the wilderness. Notice the reference to labor pains. In Scripture, labor pains are used to describe the Great Tribulation. The woman in the wilderness is leaning upon her beloved who is the Messiah.
The Twins show Messiah coming out of the wilderness with His Bride. If we look at the Bride in the stars, we see that she is leaning her head upon her beloved.
Looking for the Twins
The Twins are one of my favorite constellations. I remember the first time I identified it. My family and I were camping in Wadi Rum, Jordan, which is known as one of the best places on Earth to stargaze. I looked up, and they were clear and vivid. No doubt I was staring at the correct figure. My mom confirmed that she had seen it too. They were simple and beautiful.
It is not necessary to be in a remote place to see the Twins. You too can successfully find the Twins with the right know-how! It is large and bright, and the figure is simple and easy to trace.
This part of the year is a great time to go outside and see! As I release this article, it is late February. I recommend looking for the Twins sometime between 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. in February (and from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in March). If you use the recommended time, look straight up. Search for the two bright stars that make up their heads alongside one another. Then trace from the heads to their bodies. Their midsections are bright enough to see. The figure on the left has a bright star in its foot. You can see their arms and the three-star extension that makes up the lame foot/bridal train of the figure on the right.
You may be aware of a constellation commonly called ‘Orion.’ If you can find Orion, it is unlikely you will miss the Twins. Below is a picture from chapter 13 of my book. The Hebrew name for the Orion is Urim, representing the High Priest. I am including this picture to help you locate the Twins in relation to the High Priest.
