The Greater Exodus- One Gathering Place or Many?

Note to Reader: In this teaching, YHWH and Elohim are both used to refer to the LORD God, Creator.  And Yahushua is used for His Son, who is the LORD God manifested in the flesh, as Son, Messiah and Savior.  Unless otherwise stated, all Scripture references are taken from the 2009 version of The Scriptures by the Institute for Scripture Research.

Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. (Matthew 19:29)

We are no doubt living in the End Days described in YHWH’s Word.  In every country around the world, people are waking up to this truth.  Troubles are increasing and the time of the seven-year prophesied Tribulation is upon us.  What should YHWH’s people do in this hour?  Will there be a “Greater Exodus”?  If the Bible prophesies an ingathering, where will it be?

In this article, I will look at popular teaching that exists in the Messianic faith community worldwide about this time we are living in.  Several well-known teachers, particularly in the United States, are teaching where YHWH’s people will gather during the Tribulation.   What I would like to do is share the summary of popular teaching with you, and look at the Scriptures together with you, so that YOU, the reader, can decide where YHWH’s Word instructs His people to be.

What Is the “The Greater Exodus”?

Jeremiah 16:14-15 “Therefore see, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “when it is no longer said, ‘יהוה lives who brought up the children of Yisra’ěl from the land of Mitsrayim,’ but, ‘יהוה lives who brought up the children of Yisra’ěl from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.’ For I shall bring them back into their land I gave to their fathers.

The Greater Exodus, also called The Ingathering, is the promised time when YHWH Elohim will bring back a remnant of His people from all around the world. He will bring them back to the Land that He gave to their ancestors after the First Exodus from Egypt.  The actual event is so great that we are told in Jeremiah 16 that the First Exodus, as great as it was, will not be discussed because there will be an even greater deliverance that will occur that involves saving people from all around the world during the time known as the Tribulation.

A Popular Teaching Right Now

The popular teaching among the Messianic community can be summed up by the points below:

  1. What happened with the Israelites coming out of Egypt is a pattern of what will happen again with YHWH’s people.
  2. Cities will experience famine, war, and disease like never before. Governments will pull people into the cities to promise provision for them.  The governments of the world will then use this to control people and bring about a one-world government system.
  3. YHWH’s people are to be gathered outside the cities in camps where they can escape the “big three” listed above (i.e. famine, war, and disease).
  4. Because of these camps being gathered, YHWH’s people should be learning the basics of survival: in particular, the ability to build a shelter, physically defend oneself, stock up on food, and find water sources.
  5. After people gather in these camps, they may have to fight (literally) intruders and those who may seek to steal or cause harm to the camps.
  6. YHWH promises to come to get His people in these camps that are scattered all over the world. Yahushua will come and bring all of His people directly to Jerusalem to reign with Him.

As a result of this line of thinking, many people are trying to physically prepare for worldwide food shortages, the increase of disease, worldwide war, and the economic collapse of today’s governments.  There are lots of opinions as to how one should prepare for the Tribulation events happening.

Some people hope revival will occur and/or hope for political change in their country.  Some hope for a rapture of the “church” to escape what is coming.  Some spend a lot of time reading about what is happening behind the scenes and warning others of the political agenda of the “elites” running the one-world government.  Some people stock up on guns, ammunition, and food.  Others are moving away from the cities and into rural areas where they can be self-sufficient and maybe gather with others who are like-minded.  All of these beliefs are popular and occur in large-scale numbers as you are reading this article.  However, are the above hopes and responses biblical?  Will there be an escape for YHWH’s people in the Tribulation, and where will YOU be?

Let’s examine what the Scriptures say about all of this.  In this article, I will share some key events that are promised to happen during these End Days.  I will list the most common passages of Scripture about the “Greater Exodus” of YHWH’s people.

Key Event: The Greater Exodus

YHWH has a remnant of people who will survive the Tribulation events.  (The Bride of our Messiah is part of this remnant.)  He will gather this remnant from around the nations, wherever they are.

As this article continues, I will list and comment on many passages of Scripture that foretell the Greater Exodus.  I encourage you to follow along with your Bible open and test everything shared with the Word and the Spirit.  If it verifies to you as true, I pray YHWH will give you wisdom and the faith to act on what He shows you.

Deuteronomy 29-31

Deuteronomy 29-31 is a section of Scripture that some Messianic teachers say applies to the Greater Exodus.  Let’s examine to see what we can gather from this.

In chapter 29, the Israelites were on the verge of going into the Promised Land, after spending forty years being prepared in the desert with Moses.  Moses was guiding the people to renew the covenant that YHWH made with their ancestors (who died in the wilderness and did not inherit the Land because of their rebellion).  He warned them against breaking the commandments of their Creator as the previous generation did.  He prophesied that they will rebel against YHWH after they were living in the Promised Land.  They will be removed from the Land eventually because of their idolatry.  Their children after them will ask why the Land is completely barren and filled with smoke like Sodom and Gomorrah.  It would be because they did not keep the terms of the covenant.

In chapter 30, Moses then prophesied about a future generation that will come back to the Land during the End Days.  This generation will turn back to YHWH Elohim, learn His Torah, and guard His commandments.  They will be “circumcised in their hearts” and be devoted to following all of YHWH’s righteous commandments.  Verses 4-10 of chapter 30 are promises about the generation of believers who will survive the Tribulation and be led back into the land originally promised to the twelve tribes of Israel.

I believe this promised generation is alive today and has been learning to follow YHWH’s commandments given in the Torah!  They are followers of the Torah and they believe in Yahushua/Jesus as their promised Messiah.  It is from this group of people that YHWH will gather a remnant who will survive the Tribulation and see the return of Yahushua’s earthly Kingdom.  According to these verses in Deuteronomy 30, once the people are back in the land of their ancestors, YHWH will then provide for them and defend them against all disease and all their enemies.

What is NOT mentioned in this prophecy is the order of WHERE they will go or WHEN they will enter the Land.  All it tells us is they will recommit to YHWH’s covenant; He will take them out from all the places they are scattered and living around the world.

It is important to realize that ONLY verses 1-10 of Deuteronomy chapter 30 refer to the future generation who will be alive in the End Days during the Tribulation.

Starting in verse 11, Moses went back to speaking about the people who were with him at that time.  He set before them the choice to choose life or death, following YHWH’s ways or following the ways of the pagan nations around them whom they would encounter.  He addressed those with Him at that time because it is about those who would enter the Land soon under Joshua.

In chapter 31, Moses told how YHWH would fight for the Israelites under the leadership of Joshua, and they would go in and conquer all the lands around them.  He told them to be strong and courageous.  He then commissioned Joshua to take on his role of leadership as a spiritual and military leader.

I have heard Messianic teachers use Deuteronomy 29-30 to talk about camps being set up in everyone’s home country to survive the Tribulation.  Some of them teach that Yahushua will come to get His people from these camps, and they point to this section of Scripture to show this.

Please note:  there is NOTHING in the entire book of Deuteronomy that shares anything about camps being set up in each country around the world.  The exact opposite seems to be the pattern.  Deuteronomy 30:1-10 is one of many passages we’ll look at that show that YHWH will GET PEOPLE OUT of the lands in which they were scattered and are living before Yahushua’s return.  After He gets them out of the nations, He will gather them in a specific place and protect them from that point forward.

One of the popular beliefs being taught right now is that because the Israelites were to physically fight their enemies under Joshua, this must mean YHWH’s people are directed to fight their enemies on the way to the Land.  There are no scriptures that show YHWH actually commanding believers to physically fight to enter the Land during, or after, the Tribulation.  There is evidence of fighting going on during the Tribulation, even involving YHWH’s people against the Beast.  The result of that fighting in the nations during the Tribulation will unfortunately be death.  (See Revelation 13:7, 10.)

As we will see from other passages later, it is Yahushua Himself who will fight and destroy the evil in Jerusalem, and all the nations of the world!

In addition to Deuteronomy 30:1-10, there are many other passages where YHWH promises to bring a remnant out of the nations where they are living to save them and bring them into the Promised Land of our ancestors.  This is referred to as “The Ingathering” or “The Second Exodus.”

Many of the prophets foretold this event in Scripture.  A few passages that show this are Ezekiel 20:33-44, Ezekiel 34:11-31, Jeremiah 16:14-21, and Jeremiah 23:1-8.

I would encourage you to read the entire chapters where these portions are so you can see the context from which the Ingathering is shown.  Without seeing things in context, it is easy to misinterpret who the prophets were speaking to and to whom their warnings and promises apply.

Key Event: The Bride is Gathered in the Wilderness, Not the Nations!

Now that we see YHWH’s great promise to get a remnant from the nations, the question is WHERE will this remnant be brought?  Do they gather in their home country and wait?  Do they form camps in rural areas away from the cities?  Or do these people move to another location?

Let’s go to a key passage I listed above for a moment, and we will see where YHWH’s people will go.

Ezekiel 20:33-36

Ezekiel 20:33  “As I live,” declares the Master יהוה, “do not I, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, reign over you?

Ezekiel 20:34  “And I shall bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the lands where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out.

Ezekiel 20:35  “And I shall bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and shall enter into judgment with you face to face there.

Ezekiel 20:36-38  “As I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Mitsrayim, so I shall enter into judgment with you,” declares the Master יהוה. I shall make you pass under the rod, and shall bring you into the bond of the covenant, and purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me. From the land where they sojourn I bring them out, but they shall not come into the land of Yisra’ěl. And you shall know that I am יהוה

So from this passage, we are told that the “Greater Exodus” involves YHWH bringing a group of people out of the lands they live in.  Based on this passage, it would seem that the idea of staying in the nation a person lives in and gathering into camps is questionable at best.  The other key thing we see in this passage is He will gather His people in the wilderness.  He bring them out of nations and gathers them in the wilderness, not the other way around.  It says in verse 36 that He will do this, just like He did with His people in the First Exodus out of Mitsrayim/Egypt.

The purpose of bringing His people into the wilderness is also given here.  It is to protect them from the Anti-Messiah but also to make His people pass under the rod, which is “marking” them by name.  He also enters into judgment with them.

He will not just keep His people the same as they are.  He wants to use the wilderness, just like He did the first time, to change them and bring them into the bond of His covenant.  This type of change cannot take place in the nations where people live; YHWH does it in the wilderness.

Notice some people who come out of the nations will NOT make it to the Land of Israel as their final destination.  Some of them are “rebels,” and they will be purged out of the group.  This would seem to show that it will not be clear to everyone who is in the group who will make it into the Land.  YHWH will deal with people’s character and the issues that occur after people are in the wilderness.

It is also interesting that the wilderness seems to be a specific location, although this one passage does not reveal where it is.  It does NOT indicate there are many “wildernesses” around the world where people can gather to survive the Tribulation events in their own home countries.  If there are many places and not just one place to gather, we will need to find it in other passages of Scripture.  Of course, there needs to be evidence for that.

So let’s move on to another passage about the location of where YHWH gathers His people.

Revelation 12

Revelation 12:1-5 And a great sign was seen in the heaven: a woman clad with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. And being pregnant, she cried out in labour and in pain to give birth. And another sign was seen in the heaven: and see, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns on his heads. And his tail draws a third of the stars of the heaven and throws them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, to devour her child as soon as it was born.  And she bore a male child who was to shepherd all nations with a rod of iron. And her child was caught away to Elohim and to His throne.

Revelation 12:6  And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by Elohim, to be nourished there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

Revelation 12:7-13  And there came to be fighting in the heaven: Miḵa’ěl and his messengers fought against the dragon. And the dragon and his messengers fought, but they were not strong enough, nor was a place found for them in the heaven any longer. And the great dragon was thrown out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who leads all the world astray. He was thrown to the earth, and his messengers were thrown out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in the heaven, “Now have come the deliverance and the power and the reign of our Elohim and the authority of His Messiah, for the accuser of our brothers, who accused them before our Elohim day and night, has been thrown down. “And they overcame him because of the Blood of the Lamb, and because of the Word of their witness, and they did not love their lives to the death.

“Because of this rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has little time.”  And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child.

Revelation 12:14  And the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, to fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time,  from the presence of the serpent.

Revelation 12:15-17 And out of his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river after the woman, to cause her to be swept away by the river.  And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the river which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to fight with the remnant of her seed, those guarding the command of Elohim and possessing the witness of יהושע Messiah.

I included the entire chapter of Revelation 12 so the context is shown.  This vision that John saw was a future time during the Tribulation when Satan attacks “the Woman.”  The Woman is another name for the Bride of Yahushua Messiah.  Notice the Woman is brought into the wilderness to be nourished and taken care of by YHWH Elohim, and He has prepared this place specifically for these people.  The Woman will be there for 1,260 days or 3 ½ years.  Once again, there is a specific wilderness, and it is ONE place.  If YHWH’s people were to form camps to survive the Tribulation, it should be supported by the Bible.  After years of studying this issue, we have not found anything pointing to gathering in camps in “many wildernesses” around the world.  We have seen a wilderness that exists in a particular part of the world.  It is in this specific wilderness that Yahushua will come for His people.

We also see from Revelation 12 that not all of YHWH’s people make it into the protected place, and Satan goes after them!  First he tries to get to the Woman but he cannot.  Then he goes after the ones he despises the most- those who hold to the testimony of Yehushua and follows His commands.  These are Torah-observant people who do not make it into the safe place.  They are vulnerable to Satan attacking them and they perish in the nations.  It is very important that those who follow the Torah and confess Yahushua understand this!  Outside of where the Bride is gathered, there is destruction coming.

Now the question is: where is this wilderness and what should YHWH’s people do if they are not in that place?

Where Is This Wilderness?

So far, we have seen that our all-wise and loving Creator has already planned a place where He will protect a remnant of people during the worldwide Tribulation and the destruction coming.  We have seen that the timeframe that these people will be taken into this place will be 3 ½ years.  While in the wilderness, YHWH will provide and nourish the people, just like He did in the wilderness after the Exodus from Egypt.  Now the big question is:  WHERE is this place?  Has it been revealed in the Word, or has it been kept secret by YHWH?

Let’s look at what some scriptures say to see if the wilderness location is revealed.

Songs of Songs

When I first learned that the book of Song of Songs was a prophetic book about the Bride of our Messiah during the Tribulation, I was quite surprised.  I had never seen it before.  As with other areas of Scripture, books can take on multiple meanings over time.  But the central theme that runs through the Song of Songs is a prophetic picture of Yahushua luring His Bride during the Tribulation, and the Bride responding and desiring His presence.  What’s even more?  The Songs of Songs references the modern-day country of Jordan and gives many clues as to where the wilderness is located.  Below I will share six.

6 Connections to Jordan from the Song of Songs

  1. Song of Songs 1:5 I am dark, but lovely, O daughters of Yerushalayim, Like the tents of Qĕḏar, Like the curtains of Shelomoh.

The tents of Qedar are the Bedouin tents. The Bedouins have lived in the desert wildernesses of Israel and Jordan for 6000 years and are still surviving in tents made with goat and sheep hair.  We have slept in these tents several times, and the material is superb for the outdoor conditions.

  1. Song of Songs 2:14 “O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the covering of the cliff, Let me see your appearance, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And your appearance is lovely.”.

The two most famous places where there are cleft rocks are Petra, Jordan, and the Sinai in Saudi Arabia.  A cleft is a fissure or split in a large rock.

The area referenced here is likely southern Jordan, once known as ancient Edom where Esau’s descendants dwelt.  When you look up the word translated “clefts”, you find it is H2288 in the Strong’s Concordance, the word חֲגָו khag-awv’; from an unused root meaning to take refuge.  From living in Jordan today and seeing the landscape of various areas, I have seen cleft rocks that were made into dwellings.  There are ancient Bedouins still living in some of these clefts today.

The connection to southern Jordan becomes even stronger when you see the other two times in Scripture where the same word is used.  It is used in Jeremiah 49:16 and Obadiah 1:3.  Both of these are prophecies against the Edomites who occupy the territory in southern Jordan.  This included the areas of modern-day Aqaba, Petra, Wadi Rum, and Dana Reserve (to name a few).  The Edomites are the ones who live in the clefts of the rock.

  1. Song of Songs 4:16 Awake, O north wind, and come, O south! Blow upon my garden, let its spices flow out. Let my beloved come to his garden And eat its pleasant fruits.

The Hebrew word translated south here is the word Teman and it often refers to the southern part of Jordan (ancient Edom/Idumea).  Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance and Gesenius’ Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon both show this.

Sometimes Teman is used to describe a direction.  In the verse above, the wind is blowing in a certain direction, both from the north and from the south.  Standing by itself, it may not be referring to the region of Teman.  Given where the entire book takes place and all the references to the Bride being in the country of Jordan, this wind blowing upon the garden where the Groom is called to go is intriguing.  (The phrase “his garden” is quite thought-provoking as to what garden this refers to.  Some scholars believe this could be the Garden of Eden.)

  1. Song of Songs 6:13 Return, return, O Shulamite; return, return, that we may look upon thee. What will ye see in the Shulamite? As it were the company of two armies.

The meaning of Shulamite is “the perfect” or “the peaceful,” speaking of the Bride being complete.

The two armies refer to when Jacob divided his family into two armies with Rachael and Leah, as told in Genesis 32:2.   Two armies come from the Hebrew word “Mahanaim”, and it indicates the whole House of Israel divided into two camps.  Mahanaim was also a place located in the north of modern Jordan.  The location was given this name during the event when Jacob prepared his family to meet Esau.   What’s really interesting is that right before Jacob “reunites” with Esau, he wrestles with Elohim and his name is changed into “Israel.”  This prepared him for the meeting.

In other words, the Shulamite in the Song of Songs is a picture of the Bride of Messiah.  As is true in much of scripture, the Bride is being called to return. The two camps will soon become one.

  1. Song of Songs 8:5 Who is this coming up from the wilderness, Leaning upon her beloved?

Yahushua and His Bride are together in the wilderness.  Given the location of the verses later in this chapter (see below), this is most likely Jordan’s wildernesses.

  1. Song of Songs 8:14 Hurry, my beloved, And be like a gazelle or a young stag On the mountains of spices.

Mountains of Spices are the mountains of Jordan on the King’s Highway along the ancient Spice Road.  The mountains included Petra, Shoubak, and Karak, up to Damascus (in southwestern, Syria), with branches that come from Cairo, Egypt and Jerusalem.  The King’s Highway/Spice Road is in Jordan.

Daniel 11

Daniel 11 describes the rise of the Anti-Messiah who will cause much harm to the Earth and deceive many nations with his flatteries.  In verse 41, we see there is a specific region of the world, or at least certain people in this region, that escapes from the Anti-Messiah’s attacks.  The region is ancient Edom, Moab, and where the “chief of the sons of Amman” is.  These are located in the modern-day country of Jordan, a very significant place on the Earth during the Tribulation and the return of Yahushua.

Daniel 11:40-41  “At the time of the end the sovereign of the South shall push at him, and the sovereign of the North rush against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships. And he shall enter the lands, and shall overflow and pass over, and shall enter the Splendid Land, and many shall stumble, but these escape from his hand: Eḏom, and Mo’aḇ, and the chief of the sons of Ammon.

Hosea 2:14

The book of Hosea is a lot like Jeremiah and Isaiah.  It shows how Israel, as a people, went astray by going after other gods and committing idolatry/adultery against their Husband/Yahushua.  Because of this, in chapter 2, Israel is rejected from their Land and scattered into the nations. But, as we have seen in this article, YHWH promises to bring His people back and go get her and seek after her.  Into where does He “lure” her?  The wilderness, of course!  The language is similar to the Revelation chapter 12 passage we looked at earlier.

In verse 15, Hosea reveals another description of the wilderness Yahushua leads His Bride. It mentions the Valley of Akor.  The Bride will be in the wilderness where YHWH will speak to her heart.  From other passages we’ve seen, this involves being protected and recommitting to the covenant of YHWH.  In Hosea, we see it involves ridding the names of any other pagan deities from her mouth and no longer calling the Creator by a false name.  The recommitment takes place in the Valley of Akor.  It is in this valley the Bride of Yahushua will make a covenant with Him just like the people did at Mount Sinai under Moses.  Where is the Valley of Akor?  It is the area that surrounds the Dead Sea in the modern-day country of Jordan!  So again, we see the wilderness in the country of Jordan.

Hosea 2:14-15 “Therefore, see, I am alluring her, and shall lead her into the wilderness, and shall speak to her heart, and give to her vineyards from there, and the Valley of Aḵor as a door of expectation. And there she shall respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day when she came up from the land of Mitsrayim.

Hosea 2:16-17  “And it shall be, in that day,” declares יהוה, “that you call Me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer call Me ‘My Ba‛al.’  “And I shall remove the names of the Ba‛als from her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

Micah 2:12-13

Like many of the prophets, Micah is also a book where the discipline of Israel is shown.  At the end of chapter 2, we see once again that YHWH promised to deliver His people, bringing out a remnant from the nations where they have been scattered.  So to where does He bring the remnant?

Micah 2:12-13  “I shall certainly gather all of you, O Ya‛aqoḇ, I shall bring together the remnant of Yisra’ěl, put them together like sheep of the fold, like a flock in the midst of their pasture, they being noisy because of men. “The breach-maker shall go up before them. They shall break out, and pass through the gate, and go out by it, and their sovereign pass before them, with יהוה at their head!”

At first glance, these verses would not indicate a location.  In the English translation, you don’t see one.  But if this scripture is looked up in Hebrew, it becomes very revealing.  The word fold above is the Hebrew word בצרה, pronounced “Botsrah”. Botsrah was an ancient city located in the modern-day country of Jordan.  We have seen ancient ruins that still exist of this once powerful city mentioned in the Scriptures.  Today, these ruins are contained in the modern-day city of Buseira, named after the same name as ancient Botsrah. The name Botsrah means “Sheepfold.” It is a gathering place where Yahushua (the Shepherd) brings His people (the sheep) into protection while He brings judgment to the nations. In this place, Daniel 11 tells us the Anti-Messiah will not be able harm them.

Buseira is located in the region of Jordan where the remnant that survives the Tribulation will be located.  However, please note that we do NOT believe Buseira, the actual town, is Prophetic Botsrah, meaning the location of the sheepfold.

For more on the location of the sheepfold,  click here:  Discovering Prophetic Botsrah.

Where Do You Go?

Up to this point, we see that there is a wilderness that YHWH has prepared for a remnant of His people.  I propose that the remnant is a group of people scattered in nations around the Earth that make it back to the wilderness located in the country of Jordan.  Within this remnant, the Bride of Yahushua will “pass under the rod” and make it out of the sheepfold.  As we saw from Ezekiel 20 not all of those gathered will make it into the land of Israel.  YHWH will purge the rebels from the midst of this group, just like He did in the First Exodus when He brought the people into the wilderness.

Now, the question is: what should His people be doing now?  If you live in the U.S., or somewhere in Europe, or Africa, or wherever you are, what do you do?  You know the world’s systems are crumbling.  You know it is quickly changing for the worse.  If you are a student of the Word, you know that the Tribulation prophesied throughout Scripture is upon us.

Do you stay where you are and wait to be gathered?  Or do you leave where you live and head somewhere else?  You need to seek YHWH and ask Him to speak to your heart about this matter.

The next key point is central to this question.

Key Event: End Days Babylon Will Be Utterly Destroyed

Throughout the books of Jeremiah, chapters 50-51, and Revelation, chapters 17 and 18, a nation called Babel the Great is described.   It is prophesied that this city/nation will be attacked, destroyed, and remain uninhabitable forever.  The destruction of Babel has not occurred yet.  The downfall is well underway though.  So what nation fits the description and what does it have to do with YHWH’s people gathering in the wilderness?

Some of you reading this article have already seen the connection between the description of End Days Babylon and the United States.  Below I will list only a few of the descriptions that match the U.S.  There are many more.  I also realize there are some counter-arguments against America fitting all of the descriptions Scripture gives.  However, I think that America does fit these descriptions, and no other nation even comes close.

The Strong Connection between End Days Babylon and America:

  • A nation dwelling on many waters (Jer. 51:13, Rev. 17:1)
  • A nation greedy of gain (Jer. 51:13)
  • A nation that hosts many “mixed peoples” (Jer. 50:38)
  • A nation of many idols, of which she boasts (Jer. 50:38)
  • Babel is described as the “Hammer of the Earth” before it is destroyed (Jer. 50:23)
  • The “praise of all the Earth” is captured. Who is this praise of the Earth? (Jer. 51:41)
  • A nation that is asleep and drunk, a spirit of slumber has come upon her (Jer. 51:39)
  • The “Golden Cup” that has made the whole Earth drunk. Nations go mad because of her.  (Jer. 51:7 and Revelation 18:3)
  • Nations and people who had previously streamed to Babel (on ships) will no longer go to her (Jer. 51:44-45)
  • A nation that leads the world in trading, and merchants became rich through Babel (Rev. 18:9-15)
  • Has led the world to commit whoring with her (Rev. 18:3)
  • Babylon led the world astray through drug sorcery/Pharmacia. (Rev. 18:23)
  • Babylon contains a great city that dwells on many waters and is described as the center of commerce/wealth for all who had ships. (Rev. 18:17-18) What other city than New York fits this?

What are YHWH’s people told to do concerning Babel?

Is it to stay in Babylon and hope to survive the Tribulation or is it to get out and flee?

Revelation 18:4  And I heard another voice from the heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.

In addition to the U.S. being End Days Babylon, Babylon is also a spiritual entity. It is a religious system and an economic system that keeps people bound and confused from the truth.

End Days Babylon is prophesied to be destroyed in a single “day” during the 7-year Tribulation and never to be inhabited again!

Does that mean that the Bride is to flee from ONLY the U.S.?  That wouldn’t make sense to me. End Days Babylon has influenced every nation and led the world to go astray (as Revelation 18 shows), the entire world is guilty of the same transgressions.

YHWH’s people are scattered everywhere around the Earth.  The command to come out of Babylon applies to the entire Bride.

Possible Objection: Won’t Edom Be Destroyed Too?

One question that can arise here may be, “What about Edom being judged as well, as it says will happen?  Would I want to go there to be safe during the Tribulation?”  The answer to that question would be yes, the land and governments of this area will be judged and great destruction is going to come to this land as well.  But that does not change the fact that the Bride will be hidden in this location from the destruction coming.

Edom is a gathering place for the Remnant.  It is not the final destination!  Yahushua will bring this group elsewhere to be hidden during many of the events of the Tribulation.  This is discussed in Micah 2 and Isaiah 63.

The truth is no place in the world will escape the righteous judgment of Yahushua.  We know the world needs to be purified for Yahushua’s Kingdom to be established.  He must, and will, judge the world, and great destruction is coming.  As it says in 2 Peter, just as the world was destroyed by water in the flood, the current world is reserved to be judged by fire.

2 Peter 3:7 And the present heavens and the earth are treasured up by the same Word, being kept for fire, to a day of judgment and destruction of wicked men.

Back in 2015, YHWH began to reveal to us all of this in the Scripture.  Before that, we had been seeking His truth regarding His coming Kingdom for many years.  Once it was shown to us in His Word, we knew the Spirit of Yah was giving us no choice but to follow Him to the country of Jordan and prepare ourselves for what is coming.  The Scriptures tell whoever is listening to come out of the nations, and especially Babylon, and go to the place that is prepared for the Bride.  So, we have been in Jordan since 2016.  We did not choose any of this, YHWH chose us, and we humbly followed.

Since coming out of the nations and moving to Jordan, we have encountered many trials that have made our faith stronger.   We have also gotten so much more revelation than we expected.  Our understanding has increased in a way that never would have happened if we had stayed in our home country.  It is like a big cloud that was blocking our ability to see has been lifted.  We realize it is all part of what YHWH is doing here in the End Days.  He is lifting the veil that has been over the eyes of people and preparing a remnant in the wilderness that He foretold in His Word.

It is interesting to note that Babylon means “confusion.”  Is it possible to stay under the system and controls of Babylon and still see the truth to its fullest?  Perhaps that is why the call is to come out of “confusion” and into the wilderness.

The Days of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah

Yahushua said that the End Days will be like the Days of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah.

Luke 17:26-33

Luke 17:26-30 Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man.  They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot—they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all— so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

Luke 17:31-33  On that day, let the one who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away, and likewise let the one who is in the field not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it.

When Babylon is destroyed and judgment comes to the nations, where will you be?  Since we’re told to remember Lot’s wife about the judgment coming soon, I would propose there are five people each of us can be.  We must all ask ourselves: Which of them will be me?

The 5 People You Could Be When Babylon is Destroyed:

Option 1: Lot

    • Lot heeded the warning to flee from Sodom and Gomorrah. He was righteous, and he was saved. Interestingly, do you know where Lot fled for salvation as he came out of Sodom and Gomorrah?  The area around the Salt Sea!  Just like people will do again.

Option 2:  The General Population of Sodom

    • Yahushua warned that up until the destruction of Babylon and the judgment coming to all nations, people will keep on doing all the “normal” things they like to do. This includes marrying, building careers, caring for property, being with loved ones, seeking entertainment, and normal day-to-day things.  The population of Sodom, as well as in Noah’s day, did not want to change their “normal.”  They wanted to preserve their life and kept on living like there was nothing different.  The same thing is happening today.  The large majority of the world is continuing life as usual.  Sure, the worldwide Tribulation events are unfolding, and “normal” is now changing whether people like it or not.  But generally, people continue to pursue their desires and pleasures like they always have in the same place they live.  The general population, which is the large majority of the world, are essentially blind to the scriptures and are willingly ignorant to the danger they are in.  Yahushua said that anyone who seeks to preserve their life will be the ones destroyed.  Those who lose their “normal” for His sake will be saved.

Option 3:  Lot’s wife

    • Many people will be like Lot’s wife. Upon leaving, she turned back and was destroyed.  She turned into a pillar of salt and became a remembrance for others to not turn back. Again, Yahushua Himself said to remember Lot’s wife when he was teaching about the Tribulation days!  We have seen many come to Jordan, only to return to their homeland where they used to live.

    • Leaving everything normal to you and moving to an entirely different culture in a foreign country is not easy. It wasn’t easy for Abraham when he had to do it, and it hasn’t been easy for the many others who have answered a similar call.  Knowing destruction is coming to those you know and care about makes it hard to leave.  It also makes it hard to not look back and want to return.  Hebrews chapter 11 describes those who left their land (e.g. Abraham) to answer a call to something greater.  Those listed in Hebrews chapter 11 were searching for a greater “home” or “city” than the one they left.  Our family draws strength every day from the people listed there because we can relate to them and are one with them in faith.  It says in Hebrews 11:15 that if they had kept remembering the land they had left, they would have had a chance to return.  I believe that everyone who moves to Jordan for Yahushua’s Kingdom is allowed the opportunity to return to their homeland if they desire that.  Everyone must hear YHWH themselves in this.  But we do not want to be like Lot’s wife who turned back in disbelief from where destruction was coming.  This led to her demise.

Option 4: Lot’s Sons-n-Law

    • Lot’s sons-in-law did not heed the warning Lot gave them. They mocked it.  They rejected their family members who knew the truth and they seemed to join with others who didn’t believe it either.  They were destroyed in Sodom.  Unlike the general population that was blind to the destruction coming, Lot’s sons-in-law were given warnings from loved ones and directly rebelled against it.

Option 5: Lot’s daughters

    • Lot’s daughters left and followed Lot. They stayed together with their righteous father, even though their husbands did not come with them.  That was likely a very difficult decision for them to make!  After being completely out, they sinned against YHWH and brought forth unrighteous seeds/nations from their womb by sleeping with their father to have children.
    • Lot’s daughters can be shown as those who will leave their homeland and avoid destruction.  After leaving and being saved, they sin against the command of YHWH and cause great problems for the nation.
    • Lot’s daughters represent those who will come out of the nations and make it into the safe place but will be purged while there, as the Scriptures we looked at say will happen. Not everyone coming out of the nations will prove to be part of the Bride and go into the Land with Yahushua for His millennial reign.

Conclusion

At the beginning of this article, I outlined a popular teaching that many Messianic believers are being exposed to regarding the Greater Exodus and what to do about it.  Please allow me to list each point again and state whether it seems true in light of what YHWH’s Word says.

Popular Claim 1: What happened with the Israelites coming out of Egypt is a pattern of what will happen again with YHWH’s people.

Yes, there is SOME truth to this, but there are also many differences.  We have seen that the Israelites were brought into the wilderness to be tested and to establish a covenant with YHWH their Creator.  We see that many Scriptures show that His people will be brought into the wilderness again and will be provided for and nourished in that place.  We also have seen that rebels will be purged from the group just like they were the first time.

There are some key differences shown in the prophecies for the Greater/Second Exodus.  In the Second Exodus, a remnant of people choose to leave their home countries that are scattered around the world.  In other words, the people are not gathered yet (like they were in Egypt).      Another key difference is that Scripture says that people will be gathered one by one. (Isaiah 27:12)   Also, the exact route the Israelites took the first time through the wilderness of modern-day Saudi Arabia and Jordan does not seem to be shown in any prophecies for the Greater Exodus.

Popular Claim 2: Cities will experience famine, war, and disease like never before. Governments will pull people into the cities to promise provision for them.  But the governments of the world will use this to control people and continue a one-world government system.

Yes, it is quite obvious just from the last two years of events that this will be occurring.  It already has been happening all around the world.  There is tribulation coming: famine, war, and disease are all part of what is prophesied in Scripture.

Popular Claim 3: YHWH’s people are to be gathered outside the cities in camps where they can escape the “big three” listed above (i.e. famine, war, and disease).

As stated in this article, I don’t see any scriptural support for this.  What we do see is to NOT share in the destruction coming and the plagues promised that YHWH will bring to Babylon and the nations around the world (Rev 18).  His people are called to COME OUT, not stay and form camps.  We have seen that Yahushua said things will happen as in the days of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah.  In both of those times of righteous judgment, YHWH warned people to leave.  Their way of “preparing” was leaving!  Most people did not.  It will be the same way this time.  The call is to get out and YHWH has shown where He will gather His people.  It is the choice of each believer to seek YHWH and see what He leads them to do in light of what He commands in His Word.

Proverbs 22:3  The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.

Popular Claim 4: Because of these camps being gathered, YHWH’s people should be learning the basics of survival: in particular, the ability to build a shelter, physically defend oneself, stock up on food, and find water sources.

Perhaps some basic preparation is wise.  However, if the Scripture shows a plan that YHWH has made that involves a certain location, and people decide to prepare in another location, then I honestly do not see how this would be wise.  The Scriptures say that in the wilderness location, YHWH will nourish and provide for His sheep.  In other words, YHWH does the preparing; we do the leaving.

Popular Claim 5: After people gather in camps in their home countries, they will have to fight (literally) and even kill intruders and those who may seek to steal or cause harm to the camps.

During the tribulation, there will be plenty of bloodshed and violence that breaks out.  Wars will increase in the days that we are living in.  In terms of fighting the enemies of YHWH on a higher level (such as the beast in Revelation 13), the Scriptures teach that those who try to fight the beast and the Anti-Messiah and will be overcome.  (See Rev. 13:7, 10 and Daniel 11:32-33)

Yahushua and His heavenly armies will trample His enemies in the nations.  He will bring righteous judgment and judge the world by fire.  A remnant will be hidden in the wilderness by the time He is doing that. (Revelation 12:6, 14)  We do not need to train like we are a part of YHWH’s military.  Most people, if they are honest, are not fit for military work and would be rightly rejected from enlisting in any government’s army.

The work of YHWH is to diligently study and obey the Scriptures and prepare ourselves, not to prepare to fight as an army.  We need to leave the fighting to the nations.  They are already doing it!

This is not to say that physical training of one’s body is not important for health and longevity, as well as the time when you would be in the wilderness.  Keeping fit is important and will be needed.  But there doesn’t seem to be anything revealed that shows the Bride physically fighting against her enemies when in the wilderness.

Claim 6: YHWH promises to come to get His people in these camps that are scattered all over the world. Yahushua will come and bring all of His people directly to Jerusalem to reign with Him.

Thinking we can gather and wait wherever we want seems foolish.  The Creator of the world has purposely revealed a designated location.  The Scriptures show other places where a remnant will come from that I didn’t touch on in this article.  But their common destination is still the wilderness (Botsrah) in Jordan.  That is where Yahushua will come for His sheep.  To be frank, the idea that people can stay in the nations, then go directly to Jerusalem and have some type of rite of passage to reign there is presumptuous.  It actually comes from an ideology that has been deceiving believers for a very long time.  This deception is very active in the End Days.  It deceives people into wanting to take over land that was promised to Abraham and his descendants, rather than waiting for Yahushua to gather His people and establish His kingdom in righteousness.  We are still in the diaspora waiting for Yahushua to gather the remnant.  We cannot just skip right over the wilderness experience and all of the scriptures showing the gathering of His people in Jordan, and go directly to the Land.

Just like the first generation of Israelites that came out of Egypt didn’t go directly to the Land, the End Time generation will not leave the nations and go directly to Jerusalem.  (Nor would we want to until modern-day Israel is judged and redeemed by Yahushua.) That is not what the prophets tell us.

Our family does not hold to the “show me an exact verse” demand to back something up whenever someone makes a claim.  Sometimes, it is as simple as a clear verse, and yes, actions must be in line with the principles in Scripture and not violate YHWH’s commandments.

However, many deeper things stay hidden (purposely by Elohim) until the time when He wants to reveal them.  We have seen many times when His people begin to see certain things that are not in plain view.  Of course, once the Spirit of YHWH begins to bring revelation, it then gets clearer and clearer.

The place of refuge during the Tribulation for the Bride is shown in Scripture and a lot more is being revealed for these Last Days.  I admonish each person who reads this to seek the Father for truth and an open door to get where He wants you to be.
